Avatars are pictures members select to be shown in their profile and next to their posts. They are often abstract, or pictures of celebrities or cartoon characters, but can be of the member his or her self if desired. In our case, I expect we'll see a lot of Ridgeback Avatars.
Because of the lack of faces in the "online world," avatars often serve as a "face" of sorts for other members to look at.
Members can choose an avatar from a list, from a URL, or by uploading one. Avatar's can be no larger than 65 pixels by 65 pixels in size, so if your image is not square to begin, it may look distorted when you follow the instructions below.
How to Set an Avatar
1) Click on "Profile" in the main menu at the top of your screen.
2) Under "Modify Profile", click on "Forum Profile Information"
3) You can select avatar's one of three ways:
a) Select "Personallized Picture" and select from the list of available avatars
b) Select "I have my own pic" and enter a web address for a picture already posted on the web
c) Select "I will upload my own picture", then click "Browse" and select the picture you want to use.
Your avatar will appear on all of your past and future posts. You can change your avatar at any time and it will automatically change on every post you have made!
