What a precious baby.

Put a blanket on him when he lays down to sleep and see if the shivering stops.

what a sweet, sweet face! usually those sweet faces get in the most trouble! I was convinced my Baby Girl had a halo at this age, but a few months later I found out her Halo was being held up by HORNS! I still cant stay mad at her, she gives me that sweet face look and i just melt.

Yeah, Sarah is going to have her hands full with him showing such confidence at only 12 weeks old.

What a dollface - congratulations on a beautiful pup.

As far as the shivering, one of my boys has done that since he was a small pup. In our case, I'm certain it's from being cold. We live in Minnesota, and we don't keep our thermostat set very high.  I think that when they first lie down the shivering helps bring their body temperature up to a more comfortable level and helps them get snuggled in before they fall asleep (just my hypothesis, not a scientific factoid). Putting a blanket on definitely will help but beware! You may become a slave to the blanket as I did with one of my ridgebacks a long time ago. Every time his blanket would slide off at night, he'd wake me up to put it back on. I got to the point where I could pretty much do it in my sleep but lost a lot of precious sleep in the meantime. (Of course, if they're in your bed under your covers you won't have that problem  ;)  )

Very cute puppy, Sarah.

Don't know if the followin will help, but here are a few suggestions:

I have a bitch who twitches and shakes every time she thinks she is going for a walk.  She will stand by the gate and shake like she is freezing cold, but it's only anticipation.  Her son does much the same.  This could be anticipation of getting snuggled in for a nice long nap.  You could try the blanket as has been suggested.

You could also get one of those huge toys from Wal Mart and let the puppy snuggle up to that. (Make sure you remove any of the eyes or things that could be chewed off.)  It's possible he is missing the heartbeat of his littermates.  He will get over it before long.  My girl sleeps under the covers too and has to lie right next to my legs until it gets too hot and then we lose all the covers!!

You could perhaps get him a dog bed with high sides and put several blankets in it so he can "nest" and that might stop the shivvering.

I am afraid I don't have any suggestions other than what has been posted already....

But I had to tell you what a cute boy he is.  I know you already know this, but a mom always likes to hear it anyway. :D I love his face!!!

Hi all,

Thank you so much for the advice, I think I will try to get more stuff for him to snuggle to help with the shivers. I also agree with the idea that it might be something he does to get himself calmed down and ready to sleep.

Also, thank you for the wonderful compliments on my puppy. It is nice to hear that others think he is cute too. I know we think the world of him and of course to us he is the cutest puppy ever.  :)

I don't see you online under members so you must be part of administration under hidden??

No, Sarah is not part of admin.  If she is hidden, the forum must be under terrorist attack!
There have been a couple hiccups with the forum in the past month.  I know that Micah has not had an opportunity to update any potential quirks in the Website Forum, nor has he had time to backup the system in as many or more weeks.  Did you post immediately upon approval of your membership and prior to logging off the forum?

BTW, we have several Sarah's as members and one who posts quite often.  It is forum courtesy and request that you post your last name or at least the first letter of your last name along with your given name.  I had heard there was a new puppy owner from Michigan on the forum.  I welcome  you and ask if you have introduced yourself in the New Members Intro area.

Thanks
Sandra

Sandra,

I have been logged on to this site since it opened. However, just recently is the first time I have ever posted. I never had a reason to before, I just enjoyed reading what everyone else had to say. I will start posting a last initial with my name (I did not know this, sorry). I will also post some information on the new members section but that will have to be later today or tomorrow. I have to get to school this am and the puppy needs attention.

Hi - yes, there are a lot of Sarah's -  ;)

It can sometimes be difficult to keep track of who is who especially since the forum has grown so  fast!

Have a great day!
