How did you do that? I just tried to give you more and it said I must wait 5 hours? So how many times can you smite/applaud at one time? I gave 4 applauds out, but thats all it would let me do.

Maybe we should rename this thread "to smite, or not to smite"
That might be a good idea!!!  ;D

I too have been hit, and only posted about 10 minutes ago for the first time today, and have only been enjoying the reading for the past couple of days (the topics were about things I don't know much about).

A couple of scenarios as to why it might be happening...

a.) New people don't know what it is and just start pushing - this has happened before, I remember reading about it in previous threads, or...

b.) New people are reading old posts they don't like what they are reading or don't agree with.

I have heard of this being a problem on other forums and they just turned the feature off.

When I give Karma it gives two each time not one.  But when I try it a second time it says wait 5 hours.  LUCKY me... no Lucky YOU  ;D

This is strange. Can a moderator tell us how it works, because it just let me give Sabrina applauds, but not Kapani. Maybe you can give as many applauds as you want, but just to different people? Not sure if smites work the same way.

Sorry!  Can't help.  I have never understood how it works and so never use it.  So don't blame me for the smites!!  I think there is something that says you can only give a certain no. of Karma in one period.  Isn't there something in the Faqs about it.  I guess I should go and look it up.  I know that somedays I get lots of karma and then lose it just as quickly.  I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Oh yes, I forgot to answer why the Cyber Canines post was removed.  There is a post at the beginning of the Cyber Canines section which specifically says that the information should be sent to me so I can insert it.  By sending it to the general list CB actually did exactly what we are trying to prevent happening.  We need to guard carefully what websites are in fact included in the Forum or we may find ourselves promoting something that perhaps we don't want to promote.  Originally the whole section was going to be removed, but we argued to keep it but to monitor it very carefully.

As for using the personal message system, I had no idea you couldn't use it as soon as you joined the Forum.  In any case this person has been a member of the Forum for quite some time, so she should have had access to the facility.  But we have had one or two glitches over time, so perhaps if she was unable to PM she was one of the glitches.  In which case, my e-mail is listed on my profile so I could have been reached.  If she wants to send me the information privately, then I will put it up on the section.

Caroline I was unable to pm until I had started posting a bit. Even though I was a member for Many many months.
So it is reasonable that The lady that posted and asked you to move her post to cyber Canines was indeed a reasonable request, and not one of malicious intent or purposely not abiding by forum policy.
The response she was given was less than welcoming. Especially since we have all witnessed others ask silly questions post in wrong areas and have the  management rush to assist and fix the error.  What is the problem with you posting her information? She included all the required information the forum asked her to.

Boy this group sure doesn't hold onto that loving feeling very long. The Smite fanatic is back at it.  ::)

Not sure about the rest of you, but whoever is smite happy, it would serve you a world of good if you got it out in the open and express yourself. Post away, Express yourself, we promise to be kind. Listen to your concerns.. I bet you will not even get smited back.  ;D

Karma
The minimum posts needed to modify karma is 15
The wait time in hours is 5

The Smite Monster is alive and well....and it isn't only attacking a few posters...take a look at mine!      :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Apparently, I am  not making the members of the forum happy.  Must be the new rules???
