ROODEDRAAI Khale
« on: July 29, 2007, 12:39 PM »
Khale was my first dog ever. She came to live with me three years ago when i was living in Botswana. At 5 months old she woke me up to tell me there was someone breaking into my car in the driveway. Khale was always a princess and she taught me everything i needed to know about owning a ridgeback. Under her tutelege i became a very obedient owner serving her highness hand and foot under her watchful gaze. She had the softest, sikiest coat and loved to 'talk to her feet' as she preened herself.

Khale was the daughter my mother would have wished for me as punishment for my teenage years, she was stubborn, willful and independant. Her temperment was so perfect for a ridgeback that i was looking forward to finding the right male for her when we arrived in south africa together so that we could have a litter of stubborn, willful, independant ridgebacks. She had the sweetest brown eyes... When i asked the breeders which puppy i was getting they informed me that they had decided to give me the 'best puppy' of the litter and in my short time with Khale i found that to be absolutely true.

Khale joins Naro this evening, who i am sure was waiting (almost) patiently for her to join him so they can play tackle and chase in the huge green yard where they are now.  I miss you both so much, i don't know what i'm going to do without you two! please keep each other company until i see you again.

Run free Khale, keep Naro safe.

Sarah, there are just no words to convey my sympathy to you. Just know that I will grieve with you and I'm sending you prayers of comfort and peace.

Sarah, I am so very sorry that you had to lose Khale too.  I know how devastated  you must be feeling.  This is terrible for you.  For sure they are now together chasing rabbits and running free at the Rainbow Bridge.

I hope that the samples taken will throw some light on what has happened so it will never happen again.

I'm speechless and heart broken for you Sarah.  We all know your kids are in a great place but it breaks my heart the pain you are going through right now.  I am so sorry my prayers are with you.

Words are little comfort at this time, we all grieve with you.

I think this poem is really meant for the canine members of our family.

A POEM FOR THE GRIEVING...

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die...

I'm shocked, Sarah. I can hardly believe what I am reading. Like a horrible nightmare and you hope to wake up and find your two companions next to you wagging their tail. But they won't be next to you anymore , now they both are waiting for you at the rainbow bridge...

This is simply cruel, I only hope that through the studies other dogs can be saved.
I'm so sad and sorry, my heart hurts for you.

Dear Sarah,

What an enormous tragedy to loose 2 healthy young dogs in the prime of their lives.....all within 12 hours. All so very needless, what a waste. Can only imagine how devastated you must be at this moment.

May their pawprints remain in your heart forever.

Sarah,

I am so sorry this happened to you and your dogs.  I don't even have words as I cannot imagine what you have had to go through.  We all have dealt with the loss of a beloved dog, but I can't imagine going through what you did.

Thoughts and prayers go out to you and khale and Naro.

Sarah ~

I am just reading this awful news right now and my heart goes out to you.  I pray for peace for Khale and Naro, and hope that you also are comforted in the future by bringing this to light and preventing other dogs from facing a similar fate.  I really can barely imagine how you're feeling right now, or how you're even functioning.  I'm sure everyone here feels the same way - your beloved dogs of course did not deserve such an end.  All else I can say is that they were lucky to have such a loving caregiver in you and such happy lives, despite being much too short.

Bless you,

Heidi & Aysha

I cannot offer different words than anyone else already has, but know that I have been thinking of you, Khale and Naro since your troubles began and my heart goes out to you all. I'm just speachless and positively saddened at this rapid and devastating turn of events. Stay strong Sarah, your pups will at least have each other now, and you have all of us standing beside you.

Hi,
I don't post often at all, but I do come and visit this site everyday and read what has been happening with others dogs and all that is happy funny sad and informative. I am truly saddened to learn that you have lost both your beautiful fur babies. I wish you lots of comfort in you knowing that your dogs were truly lucky to have such a loving and caring mum and you were just as much blessed  by their lives as they were to share yours. Take care.
Ann
