Tanzi
« on: May 02, 2008, 11:04 PM »
I was looking through some pictures on the computer and found these shots of Tanzi lure coursing last fall.  She was 7 years old when these were taken and she is now 8.  She still loves to get that bunny.

Her mother is still going strong at 13 and a half years old.  Telling all the grandchildren where to go LOL.  Dad was 13 when he was put down.  I think he could have gone a bit longer, but the owner was not in a position to deal with the expense of arthritis medications and his incontinence.  It was a sad day.  I am hopeful that Tanzi will see that wonderful age of 13 plus and I will do what I can to make sure that happens.  Hope you can make it in May, you will get to see her in action at 8.

Poetry in motion and how great that she does it at 7 years young. I wish you many more years of joy with her.  How do you take the moving photos without them blurring? These are great photos, thank you for sharing them. One day I will have to go see this be done in person.

The photos are taken by the professional photographer that is at all the trials.  They are really great.  I could never get a shot that good.

I had the privilege of releasing Tanzie one day at coursing when My sister had to work.  The photographer got this pic and I had to have it put on a t-shirt!  I think Patsy Cline would approve!

Oh sorry, I guess that was a stupid question from me, I should have realised there would be professional photographers.  I am sure you take a better photo than me, I am useless at it.

That is a wonderful photo too, love the slogan.  I only know that as an Engelbert Humperdink song.  (grew up listening to those).  Thank you for sharing that one.

Trust me, went home with a sore head more than once.  She is good at head butting on the release.  Also forgot to warn my sister that she leaps in the air like that.  Boy did I hear about that one :o

Melissa, you could be right. I just have never heard her sing it.  I don't think I have ever heard a Patsy Kline song althought I think I might have as I was growing up because my mum apparantly likes her.  Sorry to get off topic, it just reminded me of the song (the slogan) and believe it or not I have it on my ipod because it is one of my mum's favourites.

What a great photo and I am sure it looks fantastic on a shirt.  I would wear it proudly.

And I am sure Patsy would approve ....
FLASHBACK to 1986:
I can not see the name or hear the songs from Patsy Cline without thinking of Marine Corps bootcamp.  We had a drill instructor that loved her.  So every night as we climbed into bed (after saying our Marine Corps prayers) she would walk up and down the aisle's singing Patsy Cline songs.  To this day, every-time I hear a Patsy song, I feel sleepy : )

Sometimes they have vendors selling them there. Thats how I got mine. The first time I Lure Coursed with Titus for his first leg of his JC we borrowed a slip lead. Folks out here are pretty nice at Lure Coursing events. You can ask the show putting on the event if there will be vendors and/or if there will be spare gear for new people to use.

Kelley, I guess I will take my chances.... This will be the first time I get to see lure coursing with my own eyes - I am very uncertain about what when and hows in that sport, if you know what I mean ;D Gotta be a good day.  ;)

Hi Asta,
Do not worry about a release collar at this point.  I have one you can borrow.  If it turns out you decide to start coursing, then you can buy one.

I was thinking that too, but I did not have time to look it up and I did not want to say one way or another for sure until I had. Thanks though, at least I know my memory has not failed me yet. (I use the word "yet" loosely) LOL

I often get Patsy Kline (or Cline) mixed up with Linda Rondstandt (spelling?) but none the less, it is a great caption on the shirt!!! Many of those songs have been sung by many artists through the years....so it is hard to keep up on. I do recall engelbert singing it too....Love those old songs from my child hood  ;D even if I have my artists confused LOL

Thanks, Angie, I hope my little monsters figure out what they're supposed to to in the field.  :D :D :D

I have heard (and I say this with a huge disclaimer as I am NO coursing expert) but.....play with them this week before you come up with a white garbage bag and try and get them interested in chasing it. Many who have brought thier dogs up to course will attach it to the end of a lunge whip, but you may be able to attach it to a long string and play with them in your bark park before the practice.

I just love to say this......"tally ho" so there you go!!! Maybe Zola will like it more than brando did  ;) He just wanted to chase ME. Wear your running shoes, I was very sore the next day and I think they may have given me an honorary JC title for chasing that bunny when my dog did not  ;)

Have fun and fingers crossed for some nice weather!!

I took a plastic bag and put it to end of a fishing pole and went fishing for Ridgebacks.  Beau and Finn chased that thing all afternoon long.  It was quite funny to watch.

Some are interested and some are not.  Beau starts coursing the 17th.  WE'll see if he likes it.

Just remember to keep the game of chase short.  Always stop before the dogs have a chance to get board.  Also incurage them to get the bunny ( bag ).  This is a great way to test your dogs interest and train young pups to play the game.
