Hmmm.  That pose looks familiar.  He is such a doll.  Thanks for sharing a pic of him.

Don't you just love how they smack their lips with their tongue... just so you TRULY understand just how much they would like to have a bite of what you are eating :)

Great picture !

Cute photo, My rescue boy sounds like a black hole opening when I toss food for him to catch.  The people at the vet clinic joke he just catches so well because of the suction  of air towards his mouth.

Enthusiasm for food?!? ... I wish Thulani would have some of it! ... I can't bribe him with food :(

Very eloquent photo :)

;D Thanks - I have Brando trained to do all kinds of silly things for food - however he goes through all the motions and gives me a down, sneeze, bow, speak, sit and sneeze routine IF he is left "waiting" for any period of time he deems as "too long"  :D

He has always been a sucker for the goodies - thank goonness ~ it HELPED so much when I was training him!

Your Ridgie is very handsome also Teo  ;)

Lucky you! :) I have no 'argument' for Thulani training except my attention to him, my polite word and soft voice :). I needed a lot of time to learn him basic commands. But he learned fast that he should come to me when I call his name or when I whistle in specific way, cause I always hid myself from him if he didn't obey my command - and he never stand not to see/find me. :)
He is a good boy now. He always do sit, down, come, stay... command, but food is not the reason... he do it for me or for my enthusiastic praise for his good behavior :)

How cute is that  :) I think I am going to send Kumba to you for some training  ;)  When Kumba wants what we have he sits and drools, lots of drool.  I have had to clean a couple of fleugers off the wall ha.

Kathy, Sandy taught me how to teach the "sneeze"  ;) and the speak. I am not the original expert and I spent a lot of time "pretending" to sneeze and bark nightly when I cooked dinner....and one night it just clicked. I am sure you can teach it, but I'll take Kumba for a few weeks drool and all any old time  ;D He is a cutie!

There can be no shortage of positive reinforcement as part of any training program, and treats are HIGHLY valued commodities for my rr's; but there is no substitute for lots & lots of praise  ;)

We played LOTS of hiding games if a recall was not followed through on as well ~ Nothing the boy hated more than NOT being able to see me. This attribute of his also made "watch" as easy command and we were able to incorporate Lots of hand signals into his commands as well. Who knows, maybe he always "assumes" that there is food in that Hand!!! LOL
