Locations and areas of Posters?
« on: April 16, 2006, 10:07 AM »
Hi All,
I am greatly enjoying the new sight. We are all, some of us, just getting to know one another, I have posted a suggestion to the owner of the list, but thought I would also mention it here.
I think It would be great to know where most people are from, when everyone is posting on different subjects, some times without having to take the time to type numerous replies or clogging up the forum with a lot of (where are you posting from or about) postings, maybe everyone can add where they are from. I have learned from other forums that I belong to how much time it can take typing emails and replies to people on what area they are talking about, we should maybe mention city and state?
Again, just a suggestion. Please be kind I am an old paranoid poster from RR Folk, this took nerve for me to post here.
Thanks
To those that don't want to give out exact location, fine maybe list say East Coast, that way if you are looking for a foster home or something, people know wether to reply or not. I may be interested in fostering, but if it is in California, and I live in NJ, why waste peoples time in posting back and forth when I know in advance that it is out of my area. I know some people in their profile are adding their websites and that gives locations, but not all of us have web sites. So when signing your name, maybe you could also list your location?

Also example, on a recent subject about parks, people were posting about parks in their areas, well it would be nice to know where these areas are, city and state, another poster from your area, may be interested in that park. Just a thought.
Have seen numerous posts where this would be helpful.

Hope everyone has a nice Holiday.
Donna
PS  I apologize if this is a repeat topic, I looked around briefly and didn't see it discussed, but I am in a hurry to get to my daughters for Easter.
So sorry if this took up your time when already covered.

Donna's suggestion is a great one, so please edit your profile and put in your location.  I am looking into whether I can add an option to display the poster's  location under their name next to their posts, but for now, at least you can see where people are by looking at their profile.

See http://rr-forum.com/forum/index.php/topic,36.0.html to learn how to update your profile and add your location!

Ok, It's done.  If you enter your location in your profile, it will display under your avatar.

Thanks Everyone,
I think it is an idea that everyone will benefit from, I am not a nosey person, but always been curious where some people are from, some times when they talk of areas around their homes, they sound so beautiful and nice.  And my husband and I are undecided where we and our four legged friends will live when he comes up for retirement in 10-15 years, so i am starting to look now.
Looking forward to getting to know you all better.
Donna
And Micah thanks for your help with the Avatar. ;D
