While staying over at a friends house, Liberty was hit by a car last night and passed.
I cannot believe it. We would have picked her up tomorrow and now she is gone.

She will run free beyond the rainbow bridge.

We will miss you and will never forget the joy you brought into our lives. The time we got to spend with you was way too short.

Oh Marion --- way too short. You must be devastated. I was just thinking about you the other day as we will be visiting Lewiston in a couple of weeks. I send you huge hugs.

So sorry for your loss! Working in the the vet field it never is easy hearing and seeing people lose their wonderful pets/family. Keep her in your heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. It must have been particularly hard for you not being there to comfort her at the end.

Not being there was probably the worst. I was so happy to see her again soon and now this... My friend feels horrible and now I have to comfort her...

Thank you all so much!! It is slowly starting to sink in that, when I come back home, Liberty won't be there to greet me...
And the most horrible thing is that it all happened because apparently some stranger took her off the leash and thought he could call her back. I am so angry you won't believe it.

We now know what happened.... The friend who was watching Libs went to a family function. One of her family members wanted to let her out and thought it would be nice to take her off the leash. I am so angry and don't know what kind of person does that to a dog they don't know and can't evaluate!!?? Liberty took off immediately to chase some animal that she spotted and when she chased it across the road she got hit by a passing car...
I NEVER have Libs off leash anywhere else than our neighbourhood (almost zero traffic) and the park.
I'm just so sickened by what happened and can't get my mind around the stupidity of that person.

Thank you Marion for sharing the video it was very sweet! I can only imagine I would be as angry as you if in the same situation. Showing this brings it home to all of us because I am sure everyone on this forum has taken silly videos and pics with thier little shadows as well, its just heart wrenching...so sorry!
