Poll : How spoiled is your dog ?
« on: December 03, 2011, 06:54 PM »
Kinda quiet around here so how bout a few examples. Here's one of mine. We have a small outdoor curl-up kinda bed and a larger one for inside. When I get back from a good walk/run with Kona and she is whipped and the only bed on the deck is the smaller one ? She stares me down with a few well rehearsed whimpers till her big bed comes out. That's a spoiled hound  ::).

 ;D ;D
Some times, exhausted after a long day, I come downstairs with just one simple wish - to sit on our extra large, 3 person wide sofa, and enjoy a few minutes of TV....  Only to find out that Ari-the-mind-reader got there first!!

At those moments I usually have 2 thoughts:
"Good lord... do we have a spoiled dog here!"
"Those folks who don't allow their dogs on furniture may actually have a point!"

Oh, for the days when we only had one. Our living room furnishings are one armchair, one couch and a 25x48 double dog bed. Some days they are determined that the couch is theirs and we willingly lie on the bed on the floor

Sweet Boy!!!!  ;D As I type, we have a chaise occupied by 1 dog; a chair and a half by another (me on the sofa) and my poor husband is on the floor with an oversized pillow - so I can relate, but we could not be happier to share with the dogs most nights!

I'd say mine are pretty darn spoiled...up until this weekend, they slept all night in the bed with us..about 110 pounds of dog altogether.  Fiancee and I decided that the dogs needed to sleep in their own beds from now on, so we've just started that :) .  I think I spend more money at Petsmart on stuff for them than I spend on things for myself!

spoiled,
my bride allowed him in the bed while i was away on a trip.  he was 9 mo.s old.  upon my return home, my initial protestations were no match for his insistence (and my ambivalence).  while i occasionally remind my spouse who opened pandora's box, skipper will always sleep with us...i guess i don't mind so much. ;-)
spoiled rotten.

Chase sleeps in my bed...under the covers. If he gets uncovered during the night he stands next to me and nuzzles my shoulder until I wake up and hold the covers up for him to climb back under. I'd say that's spoiled...or I'm trained.   :-\

Haha, I think you're right, Ari.  Too much dog/cat/human for one bed.

Lucy is by far the best source of heat... on the increasingly cold nights... jump into bed - either my spouse or I lift our legs so she can get under the cover- she jumps under the covers and sleeps with us... nothing like putting your cold feet under 80 pounds of heat :)

As for spoiled - I've been accused of spoiling.  The way I see it - I just treat her as she is  - a loved member of this family.   I wouldn't have it any other way.  Besides - if we are honest about it - they spoil us too :)

Oh Thank you! I thought I was the only one :) cold nose in the back in the middle of the night and I automatically lift the covers so Safi can wedge herself against me under the covers.

Her other quirk is to sit there and whine if the cat has already settled onto the bed at night.. it has just been the past couple of days that she decided she would get up on the bed and snuggle up next to me anyway (and by snuggle .. I mean nearly push me out of the bed). She will goto her own bed if she gets too warm and then come back in a couple hours with another cold nose to my back .. or just sit up close and stare at me (My wife thinks that is quite funny).

I am fully trained to wake up at 5am and feed her (alarm clock or not) and she will go down eat her breakfast, go outside for morning business and then come in and go back to bed until I am ready to walk her between 6-6:30... boy I wish I was a ridgeback.

We had a bit of a cold snap over the weekend and after his walk in the snow he looked a bit cold
