Int. Ch. Clara Valley Lady Catriona, 10.15.1999-12.15.2011
« on: December 19, 2011, 03:23 PM »
Cat left us this week after an illness of several weeks.  She has left a huge hole in my life as she has been my constant companion for 12 plus years.  I was there to catch her when she came into the world and I held her as she left.  She was a small bitch with a huge heart.  She leaves behind her son, Hintza, and a great nephew, Misha.  She rests beside her mother and grandmother and I am sure she had many friends waiting for her at the Rainbow Bridge.

I'm so sorry, it's so difficult to lose these dogs, no amount of time they stay with us is ever long enough.

Thanks everyone.   As you say, it is never easy no matter how many times you have to go through it.  Cat had a great life, she was spoilt rotten, but made few demands and had no enemies except the cats and groundhogs.  She was sick only the last few weeks and while it was a horrible decision to make, we felt confident that she would forgive us for sparing her the indignities and pain she was facing.  My clue in the end was that she stopped eating and wouldn't even try the liverwurst she usually loved.  With all the dogs that we have had, refusing to eat has been the indication that they were ready to go.

Oh Caroline I am so sorry - that face of hers got me every time you posted her picture and I am glad you were there with her at the end. My heart goes out to you and yours and I know she is watching over you. You were blessed to have each other.
