"New" Pups
« on: January 15, 2012, 02:11 PM »
The litter was born Christmas day - there are 2 bitches & I have first choice  ;D

They were 2 weeks old when we went to see them.  Next visit probably next weekend.  After much discussion we have decided to call her "Ziva" meaning "radiant light".  We have fishing trip to Amistad planned for April & our resort is 100% pet friendly.  It will be interesting travelling with 2 RRs in the cab of our F250 ;)

They are adorable, Gail.  I love puppies at this age when their eyes are just opened and the world is a whole new place for them to explore.  You are so lucky having a choice.

Beauties!

Traveling in the F250 should be no problem. We do it with two fully grown RRs in a Ranger

 ;) Cute!
It will be wonderful to watch them grow up and hear more about which pup you decide on!

Good Luck Gayle!

Update!!

Went to visit the pups yesterday - they are roly polys & as cute can be  8)

The kennels with some rescues as well as their stud male

The litter: 3 dogs & 2 bitches

Exploring the big wide world!! 8)

Our choice: "Ziva" who will be joining us at the end of February  :wave

Thanks for the comments on our new family member.  The breeder has encouraged us to come & visit as often as we want when she is home.  We really appreciate being able to see the facilities & get to know her.  They have some rescues - not all RRs.  Her husband is a trainer & is rehabilitating a Great Dane who had been abused  :(

More pics to come  ;)

Cute puppies but I'm really sad to see that from the photos, it appears that the dogs are left in kennels and have to sleep in igloo dog houses and what appears to be repurposed trash barrels.  So sad, these dogs deserve so much more.  I believe that dogs should live with the family and have as much human contact as possible.  When I raised litters they were born in the kitchen and raised in the kitchen with ample play time outside during the day.  Yep, it was a lot of work but so worth it to raise well socialized puppies that went to their new homes house trained and totally used to all the various noises and activities that goes on in a house.

If I'm mistaken about the photos I apologize.

Pam,

The weather has been so nice in Texas .. the pups were brought out to enjoy the summer like temperatures & give us the opportunity to be able to photograph them.

Glad that the puppies aren't left outside.  May I ask if the adult dogs that are shown in the kennel runs in the photos are house dogs as well?  I've had up to 7 adult dogs at once, (3 were "grandpups" that I was baby sitting while the owners were on an extended vacation), and none were ever outside dogs.  Yeah, it got crazy at times but just don't see the point in having dogs if they aren't in the house with the people.  My dogs don't have a clue as to what a dog house is, as you can imagine, I have very spoiled, but very well behaved, dogs.

Most of the dogs in the kennel runs are rescues.  The kennels are clean with no smell, large pails of water  One of them is being trained as a hunting dog.

I owned & operated a boarding kennel in South Africa for 20 years.  I know what a "quick" clean up looks & smells like  >:( having been to visit competitors kennels ..
