CH. AKC, UKC, CKC Neema U Kimeta Zuri Kissi, CGC, TDI 08/26/99 - 12/24/09
A beautiful puppy arrived - full of energy and spirit. She stole the hearts of many and turned the eye of judges to easily win her titles. A big California Blonde who loved the sunshine and sharing a piece of the world with her friends and family.
Funny, graceful, dignified, a little demanding…as all beautiful blond bitches can be. Her eyes were so expressive - the simplest joy, the love she had for her family of humans and dogs - all were mirrored in those dark soulful eyes.
As the years passed she shared the loss of her dog family with us, and last year she became the Matriarch of our dog clan. While she gratefully accepted the crown and scepter with glee, I could see the signs that her reign would be short.
In October we began the Journey of Lasting Memories...time to scent a rabbit…she soaked up the sunshine on the deck… our walk in the woods…a savory bone which she shared with no one… a new pillow and a warm blanket. There were more…but the time was so short. The last day she savored the down couch…and my feather pillow, several handfuls of cookies and sirloin steak.
In the wee hours of Christmas Eve she took her final drive. I held her, spoke to her and left my tears on her beautiful velvet head. Her breathing was shallow and I knew she might leave us before we reached our destination. She was carried into the office…but died in my arms without assistance. She was as beautiful and graceful in death as she was in life. No longer the bouncy puppy but forever in our hearts - a big, beautiful California blond.
While we find it difficult to understand death…dogs give us love beyond understanding. The peace of running free - the joy of sweet flowing air - the touch of warm sun - you are another Star shining in my heaven. Until we meet again, Kozi.
"The tears streamed down and I let them flow as freely as they would, making of them a pillow for my heart. On them it rested." - Saint Augustine
you are missed dear Kozi.

Sandee, L, and K-family... My heart breaks for you all. I cried when I read your post. So sad to hear your girl, Kozi, passed on Christmas eve. May she rest in peace and remain forever in your memories & hearts. Sandy Boyd
If we are, as people say, But the creatures of the day, Let me live, when we must part, A little longer in your heart -- You were all the God I knew, I was faithful unto you. (author: Elizabeth Barrett Browning)
Beyond The Rainbow... As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played, I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade. I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity. I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide! And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be! My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do. I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night. 'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold. For although we may not be together in the way we used to be, We are still connected by a cord no eye can see. So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart. (author unknown)

Sandra,
I'm so sorry for the passing of your girl. She sounded like a beautiful soul. I hope her memories will bring you peace and being in your arms when she left is the most comforting of all.
Kozi will always live on in your heart.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Your words made a big impression and I can still feel a lump in my throat. May your friend find the rest of her family on the other side of the Rainbow bridge.
